Applications

Scirocco manufactures ID systems to identify moving large and valuable objects in close-loops. Our products are particularly suited for  dirty and/or electrically noisy applications. Auto ID is always done to provide services such as;
•   Granting access via tags to open barriers, doors, gates and the like
•   Guide the tag holder where to go via a visual display, green/red lights etc
•   Direct tagged objects by automatic routing, e.g. in a complex factory flow-line
•   Track objects and report to higher level systems for decisions or knowledge on orientations
•   Assess or analyse objects, e.g. by weighing a truck or by classification of a car
•   Perform financial transactions related to a tag reading, such as to debit for a parking fee
•   Provide information related to collected tag data, e.g. for statistics

Our two technologies: UHF Radio Frequency Identification, and IR – InfraRed Identification, cover inherently different market areas; the IR products are primarily used to facilitate automation of factory lines, whereas our UHF products are specifically designed for access control and wide-area transportation logistics applications.

Sciroccco IR

The Scirocco IR system is primarily used in challenging environments, ranging from dusty manufacturing lines to truck-scale sites with heavy exposure to traffic dirt, rain, fog and snow. Applications are those where readers are many, the surrounding structures are complex, the electrical environment is tough and there are demanding requirements on reading range. The small dimensions and precise beam of the readers makes the installation easy even if the space is limited.  No other technology offers as neat handhelds as our IR system.

The low reader cost is appreciated when many reading points are needed, e.g. along a factory flow-line where the system can identify objects for automatic routing or to instruct industrial robots. It is also possible to write data into the ID tags at a distance, such as information from a work-cell to make the line independent from disturbances in the computer system. The system can also be used with fork-lift trucks, AGVs and other factory-related items.

Scirocco IRID reduces capital tie-up in factories through JIT ( just-in-time) deliveries, increased up-time and improved quality control.

Scirocco UHF

With excellent range/speed performance, compliance with industry standards, robust design and complete set of tags, Scirocco UHF is suitable for wide-area logistics by tracking large and valuable objects such as trucks, buses, trains and containers.  The system is very user-friendly, with a modular design and modern interfaces.

Scirocco UHF in logistics applications enables a reduced stock of materials, a better planning and performing of transportation activities, decreasing errors are and manual work, as well as improving safety and security for the users.

Scirocco UHF can help synchronise fleets or logistics processes and improve efficiency in various applications, such as public transportation, harbours, airports, recycling plants and postal services.

Scirocco UHF is also designed for fast and secure access control for vehicles. Instead of queues, traffic now flows freely in vehicle entrances/exits at all times. An intuitive web-interface in the readers makes it easy to adjust settings and access rights so that, for instance, individual drivers can be denied access at certain hours. A standalone reader also features intelligent functions with a built-in database and logging of past events.

In certain situations when tags shall not moved between cars, Scirocco ‘break-on-removal’ tag which adheres to the windscreen and fractures if removed is a perfect solution. A card tag with a holder that sticks inside the windscreen and allows easy tag removal is also available.
