Scirocco RFID is a perfect means to automatically identify trams for improved control and planning of the city's transportation network. Many of these functions are realised by means of readers at the terminal entries and exits. It is then also possible to record, non-stop, ( what do you mean?) trams (and buses if shared terminals are used) entering/exiting the depots. The readers identify automatically without any driver's action.
Information about vehicle code, line and route description is sent from the readers to the central data base so that the system can verify that the vehicle that exits the terminal corresponds to what’s in the database.
Thanks to the good reading range and speed capabilities of Scirocco RFID, readers can be installed without strong restrictions on their placement. This is important so that the drivers can remain in the tram (or bus) without opening any door or window at the passage.
A good reading range not only provides quality asthetical view, but also prevented vandalism, as the reading equipment can be mounted out of reach.
All passing trams (and buses) are automatically registered at passage and instantly gives information to the driver via a large display about his line number and shift as he is passing the reader. For quality management, the system further combines date and time of entry/exit with the vehicle code and transfers this information to the central database for cross-checking against the time table.
The long reading range, high security level and flexible design of our products lead to better vehicle management for the transportation company and more punctual services for the passengers.
