Boarder check-posts

A border check-post for trucks is a place where vehicles transporting goods are inspected. Access-controlled borders often have a limited number of checkpoints where they can be crossed without legal sanctions.

Checkpoints generally serve to prevent entrance of goods that are illegal, subject to restriction,  or tariffs. They can also serve to control the conditions of the vehicles, such as tyres, lights and license documents.

Checkpoints are usually manned by a uniformed service and comprise traffic lights, truck scales, barriers, information displays and traffic lights.

Because of the limited number of checkpoints, it is not unusual that queues build up. Any measure to quicken the clearing is therefore of large value both to the government where revenues are increased, as well as to the transportation companies that can bring their loads to the destination faster.

With Scirocco readers at each check-post, and tags on the vehicles, identification and handling is faster. Scirocco offers a system for border check-post applications that is specially designed for large up-time, to ensure that a border-crossing lane virtually never has to be closed because of a technical error in these ’bottle-neck’ sites.
