The police operates under heavy time pressure, at the same time as high security is compulsory. To find, stretch and swipe a card is out of question. Cameras can not always be used, amongst others since the motorcycles have no license plate at front, and radio based systems tend to falsely register items that are non-relevant to the passage. The registrations are therefore often done by manual observations, a method that is both expensive and difficult. With a Scirocco IRID tag at the side of each motorcycle and readers at the access/exit gate, it is now possible to conveniently and safely register in- and out passages in a way that was found hard to accomplish with radio frequency or camera identification techniques.
